City secures 2023 League Championship

City of Bridges Basketball Club earns first title in Year 4

“He’s right there. On my original roster. Tom Shepperd.”  -Coach.

Playing without their center of gravity, MVP-caliber big man T-Roof, in the most important game in the history of the franchise, it became obvious early that the City of Bridges knew what was on the line and how to capture the elusive title they’ve been searching for over the last four years.

The ball kept moving as normal but didn’t quite make sense in the first half as the entire team searched continually to the post for the ghost of Roof (out: March Madness surgery) as they weaved in, out and around the 3-point line against a Sixth Street Nets defense struggling throughout the playoffs.

Following a mid-game break, though, the team found its’ way.

Kid A and D Nags retreated to their elbow-wing positions as shooters, Money took his game to the 3G line while Deja and P sliced and diced the lane for some easy buckets.

In the end, it was a 48-31 victory for City as Kid A drained a deep three-pointer as time expired only because the fans were relentless in making sure that buzzer-beater went up.

After three weeks of the round-robin 2023 Finals, City had beat the Hearts 31-26, beat the Rhythm 46-41, and ended the season with the 17-point victory over the Nets.
